MURRANA · LIGHT, FORM & MEANING
Our Story
Objects of light.
Stories of life.
MURRANA is a contemporary glass art house exploring the connection between light, form, emotion and meaning. We are drawn to objects that invite a closer look—and bring a quiet sense of presence to everyday life.
A CLOSER LOOK AT GLASS CRAFT
The human touch.
The photographs below document independent glassmakers and workshops. They illustrate the wider craft of glassmaking, rather than MURRANA’s own team or production facilities.
01 / THE MAKER
Skill lives in the small decisions.
A turn of the rod. The pressure of a tool. A pause before the next movement. Working hot glass calls for close attention to a material that is always changing.
Hand craftsmanship is more than a visible finish. It is the judgement behind a curve, an edge and a balanced form.
02 / THE WORKSHOP
A rhythm of heat and attention.
A glass workshop brings the maker, tools and heat into one working space. Blowing and turning can give hot glass volume, while careful handling guides its shape.
This photograph records a glassblower at work in Cairo: one view of a craft practiced in many places, with many distinct traditions.

03 / THE PROCESS
From heat to lasting form.
Glass can be shaped through different techniques. A focused flame allows a maker to heat and work a smaller area, while furnace-based methods offer another approach to forming.
Controlled cooling, or annealing, helps relieve internal stress. Depending on the piece, further cutting, grinding or polishing may refine the finished surface.

THE VALUE OF LOOKING CLOSER
Character in the details.
Meaning in the choice.
In handmade glass, small differences in contour and color can give a piece its individual character. At MURRANA, light, form, emotion and meaning are the starting points for choosing an object you want to live with.
For a particular work, ask us about its making process, dimensions and availability. We can help you explore the details before you decide.
